Infinitely Virtual Completes Upgrade to VMware vSphere 4

LOS ANGELES–November 6, 2009—Infinitely Virtual, a rapidly expanding provider of high quality and affordable virtual server technology successfully completed an upgrade to VMware vSphere 4–a move that increases operational efficiencies for Infinitely Virtual, and provides customers with break-though virtualization features. The upgrade to vSphere 4 was accomplished with no downtime for Infinitely Virtual customers. VMware vSphere 4 is the industry’s first cloud operating system, and the next evolutionary step in IT computing.

The vSphere 4 upgrade features significant performance enhancements, which include increased scalability and performance. vSphere 4 includes support for up to 8 core virtual CPU’s, a maximum of 255GB of virtual machine ram, and can run on host machines that have up to 64 CPU cores and 1TB of memory. vSphere 4 workload throughput is improved as a result of resource management and processor scheduling. Hardware-assisted memory virtualization reduces both CPU and memory overhead. Storage is improved through a new paravirtualized SCSI driver, and additional ESX kernel-level storage stack optimizations. Significant enhancements to the vSphere 4 network subsystem result from the addition of VMXNET Generation 3, the third generation of paravirtualized NIC adapters from VMware.

The upgrade enables Infinitely Virtual to release new products, including those based on VMware Fault Tolerance, which provides continuous availability, without any data loss or downtime, to any application. IV also plans to offer support for vApps, which consists of one or more virtual machines and uses Open Virtualization Format to designate and enclose all components of a multi-tier application, as well as the operational policies and service levels relevant to it. This support for vApps guarantees flawless application movement between clouds.

The VMware vSphere 4 upgrade allows the Infinitely Virtual community to gain even more out of their infrastructure, and further reinforces the importance of virtualization in today’s hosting technologies. Infinitely Virtual looks forward to bringing customers the many benefits the upgrade to VMware vSphere 4 provides.

“Infinitely Virtual is committed to exceeding our customers’ expectations for stability and performance. By completing this ground-breaking upgrade on time and without service interruption, our team has again delivered at highest levels,” explains Adam Stern, President and CEO of Infinitely Virtual and Altay Corporation.
